Alumni and Friends Charity Challenge – October 6, 2018

Imagine if you didn’t know where your next meal was coming from. For 1 in 5 kids in Southwest Virginia, that’s not theoretical. That’s just reality.

Hall of Fame Coach Lou Holtz of  Notre Dame once said, “There’s never a right time to do the wrong thing. And there’s never a wrong time to do the right thing. Just do what’s right.” Coach Lou, Alumni, and friends proudly announce the “Alumni and Friends Charity Challenge.”  The fundraiser begins September 19, 2018 and ends on Game Day October 6th, 2018 when the Irish battle Southwest Virginia’s hometown team for the first time in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Our Goal: Raise $80,795 – “A Dollar for every fan that Hollers” when Notre Dame Stadium is filled to capacity.

“There’s never a right time to do the wrong thing. And there’s never a wrong time to do the right thing. Just do what’s right.” –  Lou Holtz

These words by Coach Holtz are powerful, and can be applied to all decisions one must face in life. An on-field contest provides no exception as each team, and their fans, ought to strive to continue to do what is right even in the heat of athletic battle. Let us all join together and embody these words by aiding those members of the community that could use some extra help. Coach Lou has led by example through his work with various foundations supporting the hungry. As fans let’s do what is right and follow Coach’s instructions, there is certainly no wrong time.
