The Program Services Representative will support the mission of Feeding America Southwest Virginia by developing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned partner programs in the food bank’s geographical area through systematic communication, site visits, and capacity development.

Work with existing programs and identify potential sites to ensure emergency food needs are met. Work with Programs Team to ensure a variety of food distribution resources are available in communities served through programs targeting children during out of school times, emergency food box programs, and on-site meal programs. Warehouse Associate – Full Time – SALEM

The Warehouse Associate will support the mission of Feeding America Southwest Virginia by providing direct support in the daily operation of the warehouse including all duties related to shipping, receiving of food, warehouse maintenance, inventory control, food storage safety and distribution of products to agencies. Operate and maintain MHE vehicles according to procedure. Work and support the Operations Team to ensure a good team dynamic and warehouse operations.

Hunger Relief AmeriCorps Member in Salem, Virginia – 15 positions


Service Term Dates: June 3, 2019 – August 16, 2019


Service Term Type & Hours: Quarter Time; 450 hours

Equal Heart is recruiting individuals to serve as AmeriCorps Members to reduce community hunger and provide engagement for youth. In exchange for their service, AmeriCorps Members receive a bi-weekly living allowance and an end-of-term education award.

All summer member’s activities are related to the operations of a summer food program that
provides food to children for the Summer Food Service Program. Specific activities may vary by site and location. Members can expect to do the following:

  • Assist with summer feeding sites by providing the meal service, conducting activities with the children, completing SFSP paperwork, and delivery meals.
  • Assist with delivery meal orders to locations, conducting site monitors, assisting with administrative paperwork and addressing problems or concerns with site coordinators.
  • Assist with meal preparation and service through the production kitchen and/or children’s
    food truck.
  • All members are expected to be able to lift boxes and containers weighing up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal position from June 3, 2019 through August 16, 2019.
