Program Services Representative – Children’s Programs – Grant Funded, Full Time, Hourly – ABINGDON

The Program Services Representative – Children’s Programs will support the mission of Feeding America Southwest Virginia by developing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned children’s partner programs located in counties served by the Abingdon Warehouse through systematic communication, site visits, and capacity development.

Work with existing programs and develop relationships with potential new sites to ensure children’s food needs. Work with Programs Team to ensure a variety of food distribution resources are available in communities served through programs targeting children during out of school times, emergency food box programs, and on-site meal programs. Monitor program compliance throughout target areas.

Warehouse Supervisor – Full Time, Salary – ABINGDON

The Warehouse Supervisor will support the mission of Feeding America Southwest Virginia and is responsible in supervising the daily operation of the warehouse under the supervision of the Branch Director including all duties related to shipping, receiving of food, warehouse maintenance, inventory control, food storage safety, vehicle maintenance and distribution of products to agencies. Program Services Representative – Senior Feeding Program – Full Time, Hourly – SALEM

The Program Services Representative will support the mission of Feeding America Southwest Virginia by developing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned partner programs in the food bank’s geographical area through systematic communication, site visits, and capacity development.

Work with existing programs and identify potential sites to ensure emergency food needs are met. Work with Programs Team to ensure a variety of food distribution resources are available in communities served through programs targeting children during out of school times, emergency food box programs, and on-site meal programs. Monitor program compliance throughout target areas. The Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a federal program that provides food boxes to low income clients over the age of 60.

Hunger Free Community-AmeriCorps VISTA in Salem, Virginia

The Alliance to End Hunger is seeking one full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member to work with the Hunger Free Community coalitions in Salem, Virginia to implement anti-hunger strategies. VISTA members support community leaders in identifying food-resource barriers and developing comprehensive end hunger plans.

The Hunger Free Community-AmeriCorps VISTA will be responsible for:

  • Working with community members to develop and enhance collaborations between governmental agencies, community-based organizations and other community stakeholders (faith-based, business, etc.).
  • Completing community assessments/mapping to identify community institutions/assets to be included in anti-hunger goals.
  • Enhancing public/private partnerships by identifying potential organizations to recruit to anti-hunger work.
  • Identifying barriers to food resources and producing a report of findings.
  • Creating a community-wide “end hunger” plan with the input of partner organizations as well as low-income community members which documents the impact of hunger in the community and a plan for addressing this hunger through a collective impact approach.
  • Recruiting, managing, and training community volunteers to participate in identified activities.
  • Collecting data and reporting on the coalition’s progress.

This is a one year, full-time position. The anticipated start date is August 2018. This is a stipend volunteer position with AmeriCorps-Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA). Learn more at https://www.vistacampus.gov/.
