FASWVA for the Holidays   Recently updated !

There’s so much happening with FASWVA this holiday season! You can support us in so many ways inside and out of the food bank. Check out some of the great events we have coming up:

  • THROUGH DECEMBER 31 – Bank of America “Give a Meal” Campaign
    • Bank of America will provide a 2:1 match for all donations made through feedingamerica.org/giveameal. Select “Your Local Food Bank” when donating to ensure that your gift benefits those here in Southwest Virginia.
  • NOVEMBER 1 – DECEMBER 18 –Holidays from the Heart banner
    • FASWVA’s annual “Holidays from the Heart” campaign to encourage Southwest Virginia residents to host a food or fund drive for the holiday season. “Open your heart and let the miracle begin with a gift from within.”
  • WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15 – TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19 — Food Lion Feeds “Holidays Without Hunger” Box Campaign
    • Customers may purchase and donate specially-marked “Holidays Without Hunger” boxes for $5 while supplies last or make cash donations at checkout. Boxes and donations benefit local area Feeding America food banks, including FASWVA.
  • WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22 — Martins Downtown “Feed the Need VII” featuring Tobacco Apache, GOTE, and Virginia Electric
    • Martins Downtown is hosting these great local bands as a benefit concert for FASWVA. Bands will start at 9 p.m. and they’re asking for either cash or canned food donations at the door.
  • THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23 Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs Thanksgiving Game at the Berglund Center
    • Roanoke’s hockey team, the “Rail Yard Dawgs” will be giving a portion of the proceeds from each ticket purchased to this game to FASWVA as well as collecting food donations.
  • TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 28 – Kroger “Grocery Dash”Kroger blue on white logo
    • Four teams of local celebrities race to see who can gather the most food for the hungry in 60 seconds at the Ridgewood Kroger Store. Join us at 2 p.m. for the fun! Individuals can support their favorite team by donating food in the team’s designated bin at the Ridgewood Kroger beginning November 18. Donations and food gathered during the “Dash” will determine the winner.
  • THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30 – Hollins University “Writers’ Harvest Reading” at the Frances Niederer Auditorium, Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center
    • Hollins faculty writers read from their exciting new work to raise money and food for the hungry. All proceeds from ticket sales (at the door) will benefit FASWVA. General admission: $10. Students: $5 or a nonperishable food item.
  • THROUGH SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9 – Bristol Cabela’s/BackyardBowPro/Tactacam Food Drive and Event
    • Bristol Cabela’s has teamed up with BackyardBowPro and Tactacam to host a food drive for Feeding America Southwest Virginia. Individuals are asked to bring a bag of non-perishable food items to the Bristol Cabela’s store. For their donation, they will receive an entry form to win an “Ultimate Hunting Prize Package” including a muzzleloader rifle, a Tactacam, camouflage gear and more! The prize package winner will be drawn during a special event at Bristol Cabela’s on Saturday, December 9 at noon. Must be 18 years or older to enter, entrants need not be present to win.
